TÜPRAŞ, Türkiye's leading oil refinery company, launched a strategic initiative to strengthen the data literacy and self-service analytics capabilities of its business units. The company aimed to empower white-collar employees across its all refineries and headquarters to independently design, develop, and publish analytical reports through the TÜPRAŞ BI Center – Business Intelligence Platform, reducing the dependency on the central data analytics team. Our team supported this initiative by delivering a structured training program series focused on building data-driven decision-making skills and promoting a sustainable data culture. Through recurring sessions on data modeling, data visualization, and analytical storytelling, participants learned how to transform raw data into meaningful insights and actionable reports. All training modules were designed and delivered using Power BI, Power Query, and Power BI Report Builder, enabling TÜPRAŞ teams to gain practical, hands-on experience within their existing Microsoft BI ecosystem.
What we did
At Rise Technology, we designed and delivered a comprehensive Self-Service BI Enablement Program to support TÜPRAŞ's data culture transformation. Within the scope of the project, we implemented Self-Service BI Enablement Program, Data Literacy & Visualization Training Series, and Power BI and Data Modeling Workshops. Key Outcomes: Empowered Business Units: Business users now create and publish their own analytical reports without relying on the central analytics team. Established Data Culture: Strengthened awareness of data-driven thinking and the importance of data accuracy and consistency. Enhanced Analytical Skills: Improved competencies in data modeling, visualization, and storytelling across all participating departments. Scalable Learning Model: Training content designed for continuous re-use and adaptation across new business units. Technology Used: The entire program was built on Microsoft's BI stack, focusing on Power BI, Power Query, and Report Builder. These tools were used to demonstrate real-world scenarios, hands-on exercises, and best practices for data modeling, visualization, and dashboard performance optimization. This initiative played a key role in accelerating TÜPRAŞ's data culture transformation, building internal self-service BI capabilities, and strengthening the company's analytics-driven decision-making culture.
